Dear Fairy Godmother:
I just saw the Zang Toi Spring 2013 Collection yesterday at the Stage at Lincoln Center in New York City during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. I would now like to be a princess. Please make me a princess.
Oh what an imagination of regal elegance and childhood imagination this show was filled with. If only one could really live the life of a princess, they would most likely be wearing the works of Zang Toi. The collection consisted of beautiful flowing ball gowns in baby pink, sleek and chic evening wear with gorgeous gemstone detailing, spectacular, jaw-dropping dresses in bright colors, big bows, and puffy sleeves, sophisticated tweed blazers and skirts, and top hats! Top hats?!!!! Yes, there were some pieces for aspiring princes as well.
Also spotted in the front row were actress Kirstie Alley and her dancing partner Maxim Chmerkovskiy, Ivana Trump, and I hope Bill Cunningham! While in line I spotted Mr. Cunningham coming up to get inside the venue. The young man who took his ticket did not know who he was and when the bar code wouldn’t read he turned Bill away. As soon as that happened another lady saw what happened and ran after Mr. Cunningham to get him to come back. Oh, it was like watching ‘Bill Cunningham New York’ all over again.
And once again, the show ended with a standing ovation. The only difference this time round was the constant applause throughout the whole show. People just couldn’t wait til the end to give their praises for Zang Toi’s brilliant work.
