Jelly NYC had another one of their Pool Parties today at the Williamsburg Waterfront in Brooklyn. If you go, there are plenty of things to do, besides people watch, like:
Play dodgeball, or
Watch the police watch people playing dodgeball
Or join in if you are a cop. Don’t worry, he only stayed in for a minute or so.
The clouds were looking rather ominous, but fortunately there was no rain today.
So you probably could’ve biked it over. Biking seems to be a very popular mode of transportation in Williamsburg-its convenient and environmentally friendly.
Performing were openers The Netherlands:
WAAAAAAAAH!!!!
Dark Meat was a definite favorite of the day…
They definitely knew how to get the crowd involved:
With colorful streamers
as well as handing over their instruments to the crowd
After their set, the crowd assembled their own outfits from the paper streamers.
Up next were Fiery Furnaces. Normally I would be annoyed with Photographers sticking their camera in front of everybody, but I think it actually helped here.
No Alex Kapranos sighting today.
Then the evening ended with Simian Mobile Disco putting on a dj set for the people:
With members of the face painted Dark Meat
What’s caught their attention?
A sign by some fans. Let’s take a picture of it.
An amusing little anecdote below:
On my way home, there were these teenage skaters riding the train. One of them asked his friend to listen to his IPod and asked his friend who it was:
kid 1: it’s nirvana
kid 2: how do you spell it
kid 1: n-e-r-v-i-a
At that point, I should have interrupted, or yelled at them, but did NOT. If I did, here’s what I would have said:
You idiots, it’s N-I-R-V-A-N-A! You know…KURT COBAIN?!!! Only one of the greatest artists of our times!!! You weren’t even born yet, how could you ever understand!!!
Then I realized something sad…
Damn…I’m old.
Next week:
Del The Funky Homosapien, Prince Paul (Dj Set), DD/MM/YYYY, Gravy Train!!!!, Kenan Bell
