School of Seven Bells and The xx at the final Seaport Music Festival of 2009, 14 Aug 2009

Once every summer, I get a little sad.  As the summer season ends, so does the weekly Seaport Music festival.  This Friday, the Seaport wrapped up their free concert series with performances by the UK’s The xx and Brooklyn’s School of Seven Bells.

Dressed in all black, London’s The xx performed their beautifully, melodic music, with recognizable influences by Glasvegas, and oddly enough, Foals, minus the math rock attire.

The sound quality at the Seaport is probably one of the best around.  There have been bands that I didn’t care for, until I saw them a second/third time at the Seaport-No Age, Black Moth Super Rainbow, and School of Seven Bells-just to name a few.   School of Seven Bells sounded really wonderful tonight.  This is former Secret Machine member, Ben Curtis’s new project:

Summer’s not over yet, so keep enjoying the lovely weather!  And next year, the Seaport will have even more great shows!
