This past Sunday was the final Jelly NYC Pool Party in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. If you had a chance to check out any of their shows, you were probably familiar with the line dealio. Show up early. With Grizzly Bear performing the final night you could bet the queue would extended beyond just a couple of blocks.
Once inside try not to get smacked by the blue air-filled Jelly mascot. It was fun watching people get harassed by these cheerful creatures. It was less fun being hit in the face by one…trust me.
High 5!
If you wanted to stay away from the stage and just enjoy the view of the Manhattan skyline, yesterday was probably the hardest day to find an empty spot on the grass.
I missed the opener, but made it in time to hear the beautifully, throaty vocals of Victoria Legrand of Beach House.
I’ve got a real good feeling about them. They’re music is pretty chill. Thyme lemonade and espresso brownie chill.
Headliner Grizzly Bear performed to a tame crowd, compared to last week’s Girl Talk crowd. But then again, GB’s music isn’t like the get-up and grind, hump, and romp stuff Girl Talk does.
Seriously is there such a thing as the perfect set of lips?
This is what he shot.
Victoria joins the guys on stage for a song.
Spotted in the crowd was Amedeo Pace of Blonde Redhead enjoying Beach House’s performance.
What a really gracious guy, as I asked if it would be okay to take some photos of him.
Yeasayer’s Chris Keating showing some support.
Senator Chuck Schumer came on stage to proclaim his love for Brooklyn. I must admit I didn’t know who he was. I only know of one other New York Senator. A former Senator, that is, Hilary something or other. She’s married to some dude named Will. I think she got another job. She’s a receptionist…administrative assistant…secretary??? You know…she looks like Amy Poehler in that episode of “Parks and Recreation” when she got her hair cut really short for some party…REMEMBER?!
Portrait of a man with a tattoo of his dad.
Sadly, you’ll just have to wait until next year to see this funny little guy.
