Astoria! Are you in need of retro, secondhand? Well the vintage shops of the 20th century haven’t been appointed solely to the boroughs of Manhattan and Brooklyn. There resides on a busy block of 31st Avenue and 33rd Street in Astoria, Queens, Loveday 31 Vintage.
Walking in your greeted with the sweet sound of 70s disco. Yes, that sound you may have heard many bands of 21st century aughts sample, cover, loop, etc…disco. After the music, the next thing that hits you is the bright, vibrant colors of the shop. Color abounds at Loveday 31 Vintage, and not only on the racks but also on the painted walls. This shop has a 20th century modern feel, sans framed photos of 60s era luminaries.

Ready for Spring? Well there are plenty sun-kissed hues hanging on wooden hangers waiting for your nostalgic hands to grab.

“Florals? For Spring? Groundbreaking…” Yes that was a quote from The Devil Wears Prada. And while Miranda Priestly’s quote may hold a bit of disenchantment for it’s obviousness, you have to admit, florals will be forever a Spring staple.
This dress above is $55 and it is more beautiful in person…or on person!
This dress was hanging outside the shop on the rack. I first thought I saw Hello Kitty as the print. No wonder I love it!

Purses and clutches are displayed on shelves. This shelf makes me think of that scene in The September Issue where the camera pedestals up the shelf showing all the purses and shoes. You know, the scene that made you drool?

I’m hoping the statement necklace is still a part of Spring/Summer 2013. Even if it’s not, who cares! These necklaces are amazing…
