CBGB Fest with City Rain, Beat Radio, Boxwood, 10 October 2013, NYC

Well, there’s one more week until the  much anticipated CMJ Festival starts, but until then, you can check out some great bands at the CBGB Festival which continues until Sunday the 13th.

Tonight was a great night for dancing, as these performers pulled out some amazing technique as well as danceable tunes.

Boxwood (aka Jose Ferrer) loops pieces creating a song.  It can be quite mesmerizing watching Ferrer create these simple segments live in front of you on guitar or keyboards, then looping them over as he takes his guitar and plays that as well.  Definitely check him out, if you want to learn how to multi-task.

Beat Radio was fun as well.  Though at times off key, but still quite fun. I wish I knew what the name of the second to last song was.  It truly was quite beautiful and almost made me want to cry.

If you want to dance, remember the name City Rain.  The Philly duo churns out 80s influenced vocals mixed with guitar, keyboards, and digital media generated instruments.  I’m not sure what that glowing thing was, but I want to play with it.  But seriously, I have a very good feeling about City Rain.

Here are the pics from tonight.  Tomorrow, Swimclub play Bar Matchless.  They sound amazing, and I cannot wait to see them live.  There’s also a panel discussion with Alan McGee, and if I get into this panel, I WILL most likely kiss his feet.  (Or not).
