I remember this past August at Osheaga festival hearing Guards perform while I was up on a hill waiting for another band. I remember wanting to go back down that hill to catch their set. I remember how beautiful their sound was from hundreds of feet above and away.
Well, last night I finally had the chance to see them and they did not disappoint. With their influences vast in era and genre, the band always glues their music to a bright, poppy, melodic foundation. And the harmonies between singer/guitarist Richie Follin and keyboardist Kaylie Church are just beautiful.
The trio performed last night with a tour guitarist and bassist.
