UK’s Fear of Men and Philly’s Nothing performed at Rough Trade Records in Brooklyn this Saturday.
The venue is pretty decent and the stage is low, but not thigh height. The lighting could use some work, but I guess that’s dependent on the band’s own performance aesthetic. More light please!
But anyways, aside from my lighting biases, both bands put on a great set. Fear of Men always puts on an amazing set with beautifully crafted vocals and Nothing was furious and melodic.
I challenged myself during Nothing’s set by only allowing myself to shoot 24 frames. No deleting during the set. If I didn’t like the photo, oh well, one frame lost. I went back to the process of shooting with film (on digital). Sure I could’ve indulged myself a bit and given myself 36 frames…maybe next time.
Out of the 24 frames from Nothing’s set, I kept 16. That’s okay. And out of the 16 usable frames, I liked 10 the best, with my favorite being the last one. So here’s my set of Nothing and below that are my favorites from Fear of Men. (I think I shot only 92 frames on them, but only posting up 10).
I did like that editing was quick as I didn’t have to sift through countless similars. Next time, I’m treating myself…36 frames.
Enjoy the photos.
