Photos below of UK’s Allo Darlin’ and Brooklyn’s Sapphire Mansions at Glasslands on Friday, 10 October 2014.
Allo Darlin’ put on a great set, despite equipment issues with an amp that churned out some static that seemed to be communicating to Brooklyn from outer space. The set had plenty of energy and melody to keep you swaying and dancing all night.
Singer Elizabeth Morris came out to do a solo encore on a ukelele. Perhaps it was my imagination, but she seemed to be getting emotional during the end of the song. I think I almost lost it there as well. It was a lovely song indeed. The band are on tour for a month in the US and Canada, so make sure you get to see them if they stop by your neck of the woods:
Sapphire Mansions were great as well. I won’t make any Bradford Cox comparisons, but they were fun to listen to. The vocals could be worked on a bit, but the melodies were definitely there.
Enjoy the photos.
