These abandoned boots have a grand story to tell you. They’ve walked miles, most likely on this path. Worn and weathered but still useful, they cling to hope. Though it’s previous owner has discarded them on the sidewalk as garbage (or perhaps charity) it will reincarnate for a new owner. A new keeper will walk along this same street, but endure and enjoy different experiences. The paths we take may be the same, but the journey will always be unique, as new perspectives factor in. Here’s my latest celebrity portrait of Halle Berry. I’m really enjoying oils. I was hesitant at first but realize now the water mixables are a good compromise. I really didn’t want to do this portrait because the reference image was a bit soft. I’m glad I did though. I loved working on the lips with the gloss. I also enjoyed painting the hair, mainly the curls. I was a bit hesitant with the bangs as I didn’t want to mess up and have to fix the eyebrows. It wasn’t that bad. Just as the sun sets over the Grand Canyon, we are afforded an opportunity to gaze upon the glorious sky filled with contrasting colors, gestural shapes, and larger than life dreams, if only for a fleeting moment. These clouds, like humans are unique, not formulaic in contour, texture, or hue. Just like humanity, nature is beautiful because of its distinctness not its similarities.
