Black Moth Super Rainbow, Blank Dogs, and Dan Friel at the Seaport Music Festival, 24 July 2009

Black Moth Super Rainbow performed today at the Seaport Music Festival pulling out a fun and amazing performance.  This is a band I would definitely see again only because the crowd seemed to really love them.  I didn’t like them the first time I saw them at McCarren Pool, but tonight’s show was definitely a crowd pleaser, and my camera was eating it up!Black Moth Super Rainbow at the Seaport Music Festival

Right before “Black Rainbow” took the stage, Blank Dogs came on.  They had some great melodies, they just need to get rid of the experimental vocals and keyboard sounds.  Sometimes simplicity makes a good song great.  Their use of sound could be compared to layering on excessive filters to an image in Photoshop…not necessary.  I really liked them, but I couldn’t enjoy them because their technique was very distracting.  Constant electronic warbling.
