Remembering and Anticipating the River Rocks NYC Shows

The summer’s festivals are abundant and thankfully free.  Well…most are free.  Luckily for NYC and NYC adjacent the people who bring you the Seaport Music Festival, also bring you the Hudson River Park’s River Rocks concert series.  Tomorrow, Thursday, 14 July 2011, Pier 54 will hold the first of 3 showcases featuring tUnE-yArDs, Metronomy on the 28th, and finally Deer Tick on August 11th.

Over on the west side, once at the pier, you can relax and enjoy views of the New Jersey skyline (NYC adjacent).  As the clock strikes 7, the openers will take the stage, and you will enjoy the rest of the evening listening to great music…I command thee.

For the past 2 years, I’ve had the opportunity to cover these shows and decided instead of just posting old photos on recap, I’d make a movie of my favorite images.  I suppose you could call it an iMovie created slideshow on video, accompanied by “music”.  So as not to infringe on any copyrights, I decided to paste 5 second or smaller audio segments of a Ted Leo guitar solo he did a week ago at the Seaport to eventually create a 60 secondish piece to accompany the visuals.  How cohesive the sound may be, I don’t really know.  Hey, I’m not Girl Talk.

If I’m going to get in trouble for the music, I’d appreciate it if someone told me.  I suppose I can always create a  musical track myself with kazoo and pencil drumsticks.  Let’s hope it doesn’t come to that.

Enjoy and see you at Pier 54 tomorrow!
