First day of CMJ ended early as I am hoping to get in early tomorrow for a Swedish breakfast. Tuesday’s shows included alot of back and forth at Pianos between their main showroom and their upstairs lounge and then a trip to Le Poisson Rouge and then to the Bowery Hotel…swank.
For my bands worth checking out later list, this includes:
The Beets- 60s influence makes a comeback with some cute kids from Jackson Heights. (QUEENS REPRESENT!)
Locksley-dudes who should be models who croon retro inspired tunes. They were probably the best dressed band today as well.
The Jonnies-they’re bluegrass, no rock, no bluegrass, no rock. They couldn’t make up their mind, but I decided that I liked them.
LiL iFFy-fun parodic rap, with Harry Potter references. SUPER DUPER.
Hands-Los Angeles 4 piece with that definite disco drum Los Angeles sound.
The Duke Spirit-What can I say, I love them. Liela Moss never disappoints in her performance. Their set was amazing.
Okay, some pics from tonight’s gigs:
