Images of day 2 of CMJ on this soggy and windy day began with the Swedish Pop Explosion breakfast, performance by You Say France & I Whistle, and discussion of The New Way of Selling and Buying Music with Music Help CEO Peter Åstedt who discussed Sweden’s talented music scene and how DIY is dead.  Åstedt later explained the whole concept as not being dead, but rather also involved building around one’s network or team.  And yes, there were meatballs, but I don’t eat beef.

Up next, The Duke Spirit at the Puma instore.  What?  The Duke Spirit again?  Of course!  The short but energetic set was full of intense shaking, guitars, and deep sultry vocals.

Then it was off to the Thompson LES Hotel for a Pure Volume SmartLounge event with Little Red, Small Black, and Dom.  The event also included a non-dancing DJ set by Andy Rourke of The Smiths, Ayad Al Adhamy of Passion Pit, Nick Catchdubs of Fool’s Gold, and Fred Wilson of Union Square Ventures.  The music was good, the peoples just weren’t a dancin’.

Here are the images from tonight…
