Day 3 of CMJ and finally realized proper shoes are what will get me through. So tomorrow, I don the New Balance 574s.
First up were the the Dum Dum Girls at the Ace Hotel. Decked out in sexy, black lace, and beautifully-patterned stockings (need to get a pair), the California four-piece performed a set full of gorgeous, melodic harmonies for the crowded interior. Vivian Girls who?
Maluca performed a super, super short set at the Puma store. The hip hop Bronx artist freestyled her way with an energetic performance at the Union Square retailer which soon became packed for Unknown Mortal Orchestra as throngs surrounded the tiny stage to enjoy the fancy finger guitar work of Ruban Nielson.
Then it was off to Brooklyn’s Spike Hill in Williamsburg where Chicago trio, Unicycle Loves You played a fun and playful garage/shoegaze-inspired set. The venue was somewhat empty. What a shame, they were really good. Number 11, LOL!
And finally, what luck as Bradford Cox was spotted on Bedford Ave. Got a chance to ask him a couple of questions about CMJ and stuff. Can’t wait for Atlas Sound tomorrow at the Ace Hotel. I have a feeling that show will be packed. Ugh…must wake up early. =/
