Day 2 of Osheaga festival and I am exhausted!  I decided I was going to stay at the Scene Verte stage the WHOLE day because I wanted to be front and center for the final band, my beloved Jesus and Mary Chain.

The first band to play the stage was Memoryhouse whose set was cut short.  What a shame as Denise Nouvion’s vocals blended beautifully with Evan Abeele’s guitars.

Los Angeles was then in the house as The Aggrolites put on a relaxing reggae and soul drenched set.  West Siiiide!

After Cursive played their set, The Raveonettes performed an amazing set.  I could not stop dancing.  They were awesomeness.  It was during their set that some obnoxious kids decided to join the audience for the next band, A$AP Rocky.  Unfortunately one of the kids passed out and had to be carried out during A$AP’s set.  Oh well.  Too many sweaty bodies and bruises for my taste.

I was a bit drained after that show that I ended up just staring at Chris Keating and company as Yeasayer played their set.  Well, I got a couple of shots in there as well.

Then after a long break and some magic water my energy magically appeared as the brothers Reid and company came on stage.  Jim Reid’s voice is still amazing and might I say….sexy.  The groans and moans still had the power I felt when I heard them as a teen.  William’s guitar work is stellar and just reminded me of why I love their music so much.  Starting off with ‘Snakedriver’, the band then did the very sexy ‘Head On’.  I love Automatic, such a great album, but Honey’s Dead is what made me fall in love with them.  ‘Far Gone and Out’ is a fun and sexy song, as well as ‘Teenage Lust’.  Though ‘Reverence’ is my least favorite song, I could not help but sing along to the lyrics ‘I wanna die, I wanna die, I wanna die just like Jesus Christ’.  I would’ve loved to have heard ‘Something I Can’t Have’ as the melody for this song is just pure ecstasy.  I really hope they can fit this song into their set for their upcoming shows.  Dear Jim and William, please put ‘Something I Can’t Have’ in your set for your future shows.

For ‘Sometimes Always’ from Stone and Dethroned Jim brought out actress Jessica Paré of ‘Mad Men’ to sing the Hope Sandoval part.  Hello…I could’ve done that!  I would’ve done that!  Many a car drives have I had singing out loud to Sandoval’s part trying to match her vocals to pitch perfection, though some may disagree.

What an intense and exhausting day it was!  I waited all day to be front row for The Jesus and Mary Chain and with the scorching sun, sweaty bodies, and bruised thigh I endured throughout the day, I must say, it was definitely worth it.
