I am a woman of my words. Small Black played Friday night at 285 Kent Ave in Brooklyn and they were amazing. All I can say is, I am so glad they delivered.
There’s always a dilemma though whenever I see them. Do I leave the camera home and not shoot, just so I can dance, or do I bring the camera and dance with it? Thankfully, I was able to do both! I really do hate shooting them, only because I just want to dance to them.
Yeah, they’re pretty amazing and if you were at 285 Kent last night, you may have been sweaty and perhaps a bit dizzy, if you hadn’t eaten before hand. And who’s fault is that? Okay, okay…nonetheless, you most likely had fun.
So the next time Small Black play, you may want to go just so you can dance the night away.
Opening up was Imperial Topaz (will overlook the equipment issues) and Heavenly Beat – who by the way were pretty amazing… think Wild Nothing, but with no shoes and a cool hair cut.
Here’s the band doing ‘Canoe’, I think…
