The Village Voice 4Knots Music Festival at the South Street Seaport took place in New York City Saturday. Did you get the memo? Well, after a hot, sticky day in the sun, I have 2 words…Showers rock!
But that’s not the only thing that rocks. Music festivals have become more than just about the music. There’s so much to do and see. Free parties with open bars help make the temps more bearable when you’re under a big umbrella. Fashion is everywhere, and everyone has their own amazing style. Well…most everyone. But let’s stay positive and focus on the inspiring stuff, ok?

Bands to check out: Hunters and Heliotropes.
I loved Hunters. Singer Isabel Almeida is an amazing performer. I guess we can always compare her to Karen O, which might get annoying, but it’s not a bad thing. (Beats being compared to Shecky O.) The punk rock has an easy to dance to vibe, so sway along.

Heliotropes are another excellent band with female guitar skills to aspire to. Jessica Numsuwankijkul is brilliant with her instrument. The hair whipping is definitely part and parcel of their performance, and so is the cliched rock ending, according to the band. Their new album just came out Saturday, so check it out.
