CMJ Day 1 – New Zealand Presents and Music is GREAT Britain, 21 Oct 2014, NYC

Photo gallery below of Day 1 of CMJ Music Festival in New York City.

New Zealand Presents showcased at the Studio at Webster Hall with Chelsea Jade, Doprah, Orchestra of Spheres, and Popstrangers.

After that it was time for the UK with the Music is GREAT Britain showcase at Rough Trade in Brooklyn with Spring King, Money, and The Crookes.  I missed the opener Longfellow because I wanted to make sure I stayed for Popstrangers back at the Studio. And I am glad I did.  Love Popstrangers!

The Crookes were great and full of energy and sweat.  Spring King had influences from The Clash, and Money was hit or miss for me.  When the music picked up, I liked them, but most of their songs were too slow for me.

But the night ended splendidly, when the lads of The Crookes came down into the audience to sing a final song, full of sweat or water.  Let’s hope for the latter.

Anyways, enjoy the photos.
