The Kew Gardener Fake Magazine Cover Project

I wanted to do a couple of fun covers of a fake magazine called The Kew Gardener just to practice illustrating with Tombow Markers.  But what turned out to be a couple covers ended up being a 7 month project.

I did 17 covers all of which had to evoke a time period from the 1920s and later on, in a couple of covers, the end of the 19th century into the 20th century.   It had to include some ideas of fashion, coffee and Parisian history (The Lost Generation and the Belle Epoque).  I also made the models ugly, just because.

All illustrations were done on 5.5 X 8.5 Mixed Media Paper.  Enjoy!
