Day 2 of the New Colossus Festival continued with Tim Burgess of the Charlatans, Spain’s Go Cactus, and Scotland’s Catholic Action.
Catholic Action (great name!) started out their early set at the Bowery Electric to a trickle of guests. Such a shame, as they are a really good band.
I really enjoyed the energy of Go Cactus at Berlin Under A. The guys bouncing around like excited kids gave so much energy to the performance.
Here’s a short video of them doing “Underwear”:
Tim Burgess strapped on a guitar this time for his solo project at Pianos. During set up, he took one sock off to cover up his microphone. Not sure if anybody heard during mid-set when he said “put a sock in it” with a smile on his face. Hilarious!
The set ended with a Charlatan’s classic “The Only One I Know”, which was definitely a crowd favorite. Burgess also has book tour, and this Saturday in NYC he’ll be discussing From Telling Stories to One, Two, Another at Arlene’s Grocery. The event is free and you can RSVP here.
