View of the Grand Canyon at Sunset – 8X10 Acrylic and Glazed Oil on Canvas Paper

Continuing with oils, here’s my latest piece of the Grand Canyon at sunset taken in December 2017. The painting was still drying, so I couldn’t do a proper scan, this is a photo.

I wanted to capture the clouds which were so varied in shape, texture and hue. I loved creating the thin, pink, wispy, cirrus clouds. I think I’ll use titanium white next time instead of zinc white. I was glazing, and thought it would work better, but the white just didn’t seem to pop here.

Enjoy!
