Continuing with oils, here’s my latest piece of the Grand Canyon at sunset taken in December 2017. The painting was still drying, so I couldn’t do a proper scan, this is a photo.
I wanted to capture the clouds which were so varied in shape, texture and hue. I loved creating the thin, pink, wispy, cirrus clouds. I think I’ll use titanium white next time instead of zinc white. I was glazing, and thought it would work better, but the white just didn’t seem to pop here.
